The Oldest Hero

In a small town in the heartland of England the criminals are starting to take over. Every crime you can think of is bursting out and that small town is being swamped by its evil. Drug sellers openly sell on the corners of the streets and no-one stops them. Carrying guns is becoming the norm for these criminals, in what once was a peaceful community.
Police fight criminals. Criminals fight each other. In the dark though, hiding in the shadows, are ancient creatures looking on.
In this world moving so fast now, driven by technology, the old ones try to keep up.
Unbeknownst to all humans, we are not the only race of intelligent life on Earth, we never were.
